David Willem van Ofwegen is currently a lecturer at the Institute for English Language Education (IELE) at Assumption University in Thailand. Born in The Netherlands, he obtained a BA in philosophy from Leiden University. He has lived abroad extensively, including 4 years in the U.S., where he graduated with distinction with an MA in (East-West comparative) philosophy from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Besides his studies in philosophy, David is a self-schooled web-designer, completed the CELTA teaching certificate from Cambridge University, and minored in Thai language during his graduate studies. He has been teaching English, philosophy, Dutch and Thai to students and adults in several countries for the past seven years. 

At the 2011 Uehiro CrossCurrents Philosophy Conference in Honolulu, HI, David presented Aesthetics of Violence: a cross-cultural comparison. He has been published in the University of Hawaii Philosophy For Everyone Journal, writing about one of his main areas of interest; evolutionary ethics. Other current interests include early Buddhist thought, political philosophy and philosophy of economics.
